“The Weaver’s Dream”
sculpture, stainless steel, acrylic chrome balloon, cotton weaving cord, wood, 10’x10’x16’, 2025.
“The weaver’s dream” engages in a spatial conversation with the space and with the rest of the works in its proximity. The elongated pyramid-like form is a scaled-up old-fashioned nail to tie wraps around in loom crafting. The gold-yellow cotton cord is a color significant in the Kurdistan flag and also used in rug making in Sine, my hometown.
The tension between the chrome-covered orb and the nail creates an expressive gesture, as if the orb is lifting and dragging the elongated pyramid, while on its own, it feels like a giant metallic ball hovering in space. This work is intended to allow free interaction between its formal presence and the audience and to activate the space in an expressive manner.
